Bone & sinus grafting
Assessment and preparation where additional bone is needed for implants.

A considered foundation.
If the proposed implant site has insufficient bone, grafting may be considered. In the back of the upper jaw, a sinus lift can create space for additional bone beneath the sinus. These procedures are recommended only when appropriate to the plan.
Dr Waqar has undertaken advanced training in bone and tissue regeneration and sinus grafting. An assessment and suitable imaging help identify the anatomy and possible approaches. The source of graft material, alternatives and healing stages are explained before consent.
What to consider
Grafting may be performed before or alongside implant placement, depending on the site. It can add to the treatment time. Risks include pain, swelling, infection and failure of the graft; sinus procedures carry additional risks that need individual discussion.

A little more clarity.
01Does everyone having an implant need a graft?
No. The need for grafting depends on the amount and shape of bone at the planned site. It is assessed individually.
02Are there alternatives?
There may be alternative implant plans or non-implant options, such as a bridge or denture. The appropriate choices depend on your anatomy, teeth and aims.
03How long does graft healing take?
Healing time varies with the procedure and your individual circumstances. You will receive an outline of the likely stages after assessment; the timing may change as healing is reviewed.
